Welcome to PacWest Barrel Racing Association

Pac West Barrel Racing Association is a barrel racing association and race production organization.  With a focus on fun, affordable races with big payouts, we currently hold races in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Oregon with plans to expand to other areas as opportunities arise.  In addition to producing our own races--which are open to everyone--we offer our members many co-sanctioned and sanctioned race opportunities with several associations and producers, including ACBRA, BTM South, BBR, BRN4D, GCBRA, IBRA, NBHA, NSBRA, Run2Win, D-K Productions, and the WPRA.  With over 500 members, we offer a variety of race options for our members and extend member benefits in the form of free training clinics at our big shows, discounts on race fees, and super year-end awards!  Click here to learn about PacWest Memberships!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~2010 PacWest Barrel Races~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open
Open (4D/5D/6D): Open to all racers in 4, 5, or 6 division as deemed appropriate by the producer and race size.  As a general guideline, an Oen Class should have 5 divisions if 150 or more riders are entered in it; 6 divisions if 200 or more riders are entered.  Oher circumstances may override these guidelines; for example, if a fixed payout is defined for an Open Class, the producer may choose to increase the rider count.  Also, a race with a large number of entries but a small amount of added money may warrant keeping the number of divisions lower than the recommended guidelines.
Amateur
Amateur Class:  This class is for those riders who do not typically finish towards the top at Open races.  It is run in a 4D format.  It is intended to provide a competitive forum for those riders who are new to barrel racing, are in the process of improving their times but are not in the top tiers yet, or love to barrel race but generally place in the lower half of racers who enter the Open.  People who enter this class may either run or carryover their times from the Open.
Eligibility requirements for the Amateur Class are as follows:
1.  The rider must not have ANY Open 1D or Futurity 1D winnings in ALL timed barrel races they entered in the preceding PacWest race year (the 365 days preceding the last day of the prior year Finals race); and
2.  The rider must not have more than $1000 in Open 2D winnings in ALL timed barrel races they entered in the preceding PacWest race year.
Eligible riders may participate in the Amateur Class for the duration of the race year if they qualify as of the first day they run in the class.  In other words, riders do not lose eligibility for this class during the race year.
